LORDE – O senzatie sau un joc de imagine / a senzation or just an image sale
Inainte de a incepe, atrag atentia ca acest articol face parte din categoria “Critici”
Before I start, I would like you all to notice that this article is from “Critici” (critics) category.
So Lorde, how about that, the girl that sings “Royals” the beautiful art pop/eletropop with influences of minimal and indie has come as a calling to oldschool music lovers prayer. If you ever thought “what the fuck is up with music today? ” she is the voice who will ask and address other artists with her infectious female activism. Her music has a mellow sound and great lyrical strength which brings a note of reality to the bullshit spread to youngsters ears.
Be real !! I think she is working towards that; Many of her songs trying to make people question what they usually hear revive valor. And it may sound harsh or intrusive, but we are talking about MUSIC a billion and billions dollar industry that feeds on young souls and dreams just for the money of it. Many don’t get why she is so great, at first sight this 16 year old girl may be a 1 hit wonder, but NO, she has launched the second album this year and is an usual award winning artist.
What’s the music about ? Her music critiques mainstream culture but has that diplomacy and subtlety to infuse it slowly into our minds. Just as a song of an innocent siren propagating sound waves in the distance mesmerizing corrupted ears in the way.
Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O’Connor aka Lorde (which I don’t know exactly but it may be after the civil rights activist Audre Lorde) already started a small waves when stating that :
On Justin Bieber: I feel like the influences that are there in the industry for people my age, like Justin Bieber or whatever, are just maybe not a very real depiction of what it’s like to be a young person.
On Selena Gomez: I’m a feminist, and the theme of her song is, ‘When you’re ready come and get it from me.’ I’m sick of women being portrayed this way.
On Taylor Swift: “Taylor Swift is so flawless, and so unattainable, and I don’t think it’s breeding anything good in young girls.”
I wish my favorite stars didn’t look perfect because i think fans have these feelings of worthlessness, like they’ll never be as pretty/talented/whatever, as a result of this intense Photoshop culture and the endless strive for perfection. Taylor Swift was the first person i thought of, which I regret. she happens to be good looking, but i think she actually uses her other imperfections in an incredibly powerful and relatable way.
Now what about the title ? Well let me make you a bit attentive on what I see beyond this powerful girl that came on the tube and started pointing fingers. Image marketing nowadays go a long way, if you don’t believe me look at Lady GaGa , Rihanna and Chris Brown and other celebrities that just go on and create diversions just to be in the spot light. This maybe her ticket into the spot light and out of nonexistence, she already has won Australia over she is on the prowl to “conquer” the world.
Another signal that this maybe just a way to get attention, look the “age” of the artists she “attacks” they are all young of age, I would not be surprised if the next targets will be Willow Smith, Jonas Brothers or maybe even Miley Cyrus anybody that’s not too huge of a celebrities.
Maybe some of you may think that it’s because their closer to her age, but bad and mainstream music is all over this industry, I am really waiting the moment when she will have something to say about Drake or Lil’ Wayne, then the shit is going to hit the fan.
Hope you understood what I brought to you today.
Have a great day.
